Boys Varsity Wrestling · Wrestling gets ready for 2019-2020 campaign


The Mustang wrestlers will open their season at Crescent High School on Tuesday Dec 3rd, they will compete against #4 Crescent, #6 Woodruff and 5A #20 Greenwood. Last year the Tigers finished their dual season as the 3A upperstate runner-ups losing to eventual State Champion Indian Land 37-29, the Tigers return 3 State place winners, two of which finished 2nd in their weight classes. The grind continues with Woodruff who also lost to Indian Land in the second round of the playoffs 41-19. The Wolverines return six State Qualifiers. The final match of the night comes with the Eagles from Greenwood, The Eagles lost their opening round playoff match 48-21 to eventual State Champion Hillcrest, they will return two State Qualifiers.

On Wednesday Dec 4th, Palmetto will host 3A #12 Emerald and the Red Devils from Liberty. Emerald finished their dual season with a 53-30 lost to #2 West-Oak, and return a State Champion and a 4th place finisher. The last bout of the night will be with Liberty.

To round out the week the Mustangs will send the Varsity wrestlers to Woodmont High School on Friday and Saturday for the Wildcat Invitational and the Middle School squad will head down to Laurens High School  on Saturday for the Raider Rumble. Stay tuned for results from the week.
